Troy's Scribbles: Pass it along

More racism from the RCMP. This time they lashed out against home invasion victims because they are members of the Katzie First Nation reserve in Pitt Meadows, BC.

Troy provides a link to a first hand account of what happened to members of this family. The RCMP continue to call them liars.

Sorry to nitpick, but it sounds like you're describing what happened to my family.

Although, unfortunately I did have a family harassed by the RCMP too in the past two weeks.

My uncle was picked up by the RCMP, and the cops said there was an arrest warrant on him. They took him out to Kelowna, which over 150 kms away from Kamloops, dragged him through the court process, and when they found out there was no warrant, they let him go, but not before slapping him with the court fees which totalled $3500. He and my family are suing for half of that money back, but I don't know the results of that so far.

Troy, I'm sorry about that. I had a typo in my entry that read "his" instead of "this". Thanks for flagging this.

I am really sorry to hear about your uncle's plight with the RCMP and court. Damn that is so harsh and yet typical. Why can't they sue for the full amount? I think they should. Anyway, I do hope your uncle gets some justice in what is a very skewed and racist system.
